ABUJA AUTO CRASH NOT OUR TRUCK – DANGOTE CEMENT
The Dangote Cement Plc has refuted media report insinuating that its truck was involved in a road crash along Maraba Nyanya, Abuja.
A statement from the Group’s Chief Branding and Corporate Communications Officer Anthony Chiejina said the reported vehicle belongs to a third party.
He said: “We received a call from DPO Nyanya Police station in the early hours of today that our truck was involved in a fatal accident with six vehicles and five motorcycles resulting in the death of five persons including a pregnant woman.
“We got there and discovered that the truck belonged to one of our distributors. The vehicle does not belong to the Dangote Cement fleet. It’s a customer’s truck.”
The company said its transport unit has a working partnership with the FRSC and other local and foreign institutions engaged in the training and retraining of its drivers.
The statement added that only last month the Dangote Cement’s drivers and trucks completed a certification exercise conducted by the FRSC.
