AFCON Final: José Mourinho Expresses support for the Nigerian Super Eagles coach
Portuguese professional football manager, José Mourinho, has expressed his support for the Nigerian Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro, ahead of the African Cup of Nations final match, stating that “never has a Portuguese coach won the African Cup.”
The former Chelsea and Manchester United manager stated this during an interview with FIVEUK which was shared on the medium’s X handle on Sunday.
Mourinho said, “My best friend in football is in the final. The Nigerian coach is my best friend. He grew up with me. We studied together. We went to university on the same day. We spent five years together every day. We left at the same time. He is probably my biggest friend in football.
“Jose (Peseiro), my big friend, and for him a huge opportunity to make history because never has a Portuguese coach won the African Cup.”
Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire will meet in the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Final at 9pm (Nigerian time) on Sunday.
