Coronation Concert: Tiwa Savage, and others to entertain King, Queen, other members of the Royal family
……Pete Tong and Tiwa Savage were among the artists unveiled for the eclectic event at Windsor Castle
It has been announced that Pete Tong, who pioneered electronic dance music in the clubs of the Balearic island, will play to crowds at a celebratory show at Windsor Castle.
Tiwa Savage, an afrobeats artist, will also play at the May 7 concert organised by the BBC. It is understood that the King and Queen will be present, along with other members of the Royal family.
The theme of dance music will continue with a number by Vula, a singer who has worked with the British electronic duo Basement Jaxx.
Also performing will be a Coronation Orchestra, which draws its members from ensembles patronised by the King when he was Prince of Wales, including the Royal Opera House, the Royal Philharmonic and the English Chamber Orchestra.
A royal source previously said of the concert: “There is no doubt that they want to put something on that the King, as well as other members of the Royal family, will enjoy.”
Afrobeats, a style with origins in Nigeria that combines elements of traditional west African music with jazz and soul, will take centre stage with Savage’s set at Windsor Castle.
