Nick Imudia Tragedy:What Would Have Made a Debonair and Comfortable Business Owner Take His Own Life?
On the Surface he had everything going for him. Nick Imudia was the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO), of Konga, one of Nigeria’s e-commerce pacesetters.
After Konga, he founded D.light, which had already become a key player in the alternative energy sector with solar energy solutions and household products and inverters.
Nick also worked at TCL/Alcatel as a regional director and at Microsoft Device and Services as the GM/MD for West and Central Africa before deciding on private enterprise where he excelled and flourished.
He lived with the monied class in Lekki Lagos and had everything going for him. At least by what people around him could see.
Yet on the night of Tuesday, June 25, it all ended in unspeakable tragedy. Nick ended it all by jumping from the balcony of his Lekki, Lagos apartment. He died from that plunge.
What could have gone wrong, why didn’t anyone close to him Notice? What would make a debonair and comfortable business owner take his own life? Predictably, some have given some conjectures and analytical submissions. Those are in the realms of speculation.
We may never know as he took the dark secret with him.
The Lessons of that tragedy are for the living. Let’s show more empathy to those around us. When people become suddenly withdrawn from social, family or religious circles let’s look for them and show practical love. And when we think it is all becoming too overwhelming, let’s open up to close friends and find help.Nobody is a Superman.
