Nigeria must not be portrayed as a failing nation, as some agitators suggest- Comrade Abdulhakeem Adegoke Alawuje
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reforms hold the potential to deliver three critical benefits for the country:
1. Social Development: Tinubu’s reforms will inspire regional revitalization by encouraging all regions to strategize and rise from complacency. They will promote the development of essential skills, knowledge, and healthy regional competition. This approach mirrors the legacy of Nigeria’s founding fathers, who left landmarks such as Obafemi Awolowo University in the West, Nsukka University in the East, Ahmadu Bello University in the North, Liberty Stadium, Cocoa House, and Hamdala Hotel. If today’s leaders had continued this trajectory, Nigeria would be far more developed. However, the misuse of abundant resources by some leaders has hindered progress.
2. Individual Growth: The reforms will empower individuals to take initiative and move from passive learning to active application. They will encourage the pursuit of functional skills beyond formal education, fostering informal learning opportunities. This shift will sharpen minds and create a generation equipped with practical abilities for nation-building.
3. Ideological Transformation: Tinubu’s reforms will reshape beliefs, emphasizing self-reliance and destiny. What is not granted by God cannot be forced by manipulation. Philosophically, many critics of Tinubu are beginning to recognize his commitment to reforming Nigeria. While no leader can achieve perfection, Tinubu has demonstrated a clear vision and a readiness to transform the nation, including his strategic implementation of the livestock ministry and tax reforms.
Nigerians are urged to avoid fueling ethnic or religious divisions and not mistake allies for adversaries. While Tinubu is not without flaws, his bold steps surpass the efforts of many past leaders. He has shown the world his determination to improve Nigeria.
May Almighty God guide President Tinubu and continue to bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Tinubu for progress
