A Nigerian man has warmed the hearts of social media users after he transferred back a total of two million, five hundred thousand naira to its rightful owner, which was mistaken transferred to his account.
According to the man identified on Facebook as Julius Eze, he received a total credit alert of ₦2.5m on his Access bank account between Friday evening and Saturday morning.
He said he took his time to confirm the owner of the money and promised to pay in the money to the owner’s account, today Monday, July 12, which he did.
On why he did it, he said;
‘It takes faithfulness and integrity to do this. I’m super proud of myself and the family I came from! A good name is better than ill-gotten wealth.
You decide what to do but you don’t decide the consequences! Be you!!!’
In a series of posts on Facebook, he wrote;
N2.5m was mistakenly transferred to my account.
I contacted the owner already.
I will be transferring the money back to him first thing tomorrow morning through a bank cheque cos I can’t access the account via the app! I dey bank! It’s not my money.
Late Friday evening and early Saturday morning, I received alert totalling N2.5m into my access account, few hours later I was able to trace the owner.
Contacted him and asked him for his details so I can pay in the money today, after due questions and investigations which confirmed the money belonged to him.
