Outrage as Man Jumps into Lagos Lagoon

An unidentified man jumped into the lagoon in Lagos after efforts by good Samaritans to rescue him failed.
A viral video showed the man being held by some people who pleaded with him not to commit suicide all to no avail.
A Facebook user with name Ngozi Blessing, who claimed to have witnessed the scene said the man was spotted by people at the Idumota Bridge after he claimed that he was wrongly accused of stealing some money.
Blessing, in her post, said, “He was saying in oyinbo that they framed him that he stole a huge of money which he did not and they said they give him 24 hours to refund the money and he did not steal and for him to eat once in a day is a problem that where did he want to get that kind of money from within 24 hours so he is tired of life and he jumped down the bridge, it happened yesterday night at Idumota bridge in Lagos island. I am tired of this country the man just wasted his life”.
In the video, a speed boat was seen racing towards the particular spot where the man jumped in. It was not clear if the rescuers succeeded in bringing him out.
The Lagos lagoon has been a ‘burial ground’ of some sort for many who had gone into depression and ended their lives.
While some have been rescued in the past, many went into the lagoon and ended their lives.
