Police Reveal the Name of Crossdresser Found Dead on Abuja Expressway
The FCT Police Command has identified the male crossdresser found dead on the Katampe-Mabushi expressway on August 8, 2024, as 33-year-old Ifeanyi-Chukwu Ajah Benedict.
The Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the identification in a statement, revealing that Benedict hailed from Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State and resided in the Dapé area of Karmo, Abuja. The police have contacted his family, who are assisting with the investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Benneth Igweh, had earlier ordered a discreet investigation into the case, initially reported as the discovery of an unidentified female corpse. Preliminary findings indicated that the deceased was a man dressed in female clothing without any identification.
The police responded to a distress call received on the morning of August 8, 2024, and dispatched detectives to the scene, where Benedict’s body was found. He was taken to Maitama District Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death is ongoing.
