Prof. Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies, lauds NADECO for writing President Tinubu, Over “Return of Republican Constitution.

Re: NADECO Writes Tinubu, Seeks Return To Republican Constitution
“It’s high time we focused the Nation towards achieving a great and viable national planning and development” —Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies
A Former female Presidential Candidate, Princess Prof. Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies, a Professor of Applied Linguistics and an activist
lauds The National Democratic Coalition NADECO as they write President Bola Tinubu, seeking, “Return To Republican Constitution.” She added that it’s high time we focused the Nation towards achieving great and viable national planning and development.
Amb. Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies says moreover, the Government should STOP THE VISA ON ARRIVAL POLICY now as a matter of urgency to end the open and porous coastal borders.”
In a report by Ignatius Igwe
updated on June 6, 2023,
NADECO said that “The 1963 Republican Constitution ensures true federalism and guarantees peaceful co-existence among tiers of government in the country.”
The National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) on Tuesday wrote a letter to President Bola Tinubu, seeking Nigeria’s return to the Republican Constitution.
“Nigeria remains a country not a nation till date because the military had without Nigerians democratic approval truncated, illegally suspended, abrogated and replaced our negotiated independent constitution and replaced it with Unitary Constitution till date,” the letter signed by, NADECO’s spokesman, Ayo Opadokun read.
“NADECO is more than convinced that a return to the Independence/ Republican Constitution will restore a responsive and responsible government in the minimum as we grapple with the business of reconstructing our country which was successively overran/ damaged for the narrow personal interests of politicians in military uniform since January 15, 1966.
“All the many aberrations-political, legal, and structural which the different military dictators whimsically imposed on Nigeria can then be strategically corrected over time.”
Earlier, Former female Presidential Candidate, Prof. Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies congratulated President Ashiwaju Bola Tinubu, making Seven (7) recommendations -Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies.
URGENT RECOMMENDATIONS TO PRESIDENT BOLA TINUBU WITHIN 10O DAYS IN OFFICE include:
1. While Dangote Refineries commences, the President should create a federal ministry and appoint a specific Minister of Refineries and Projects to fix 6 new Refineries, four (4) in four (4) years especially.
2. Presidential intervention is needed over Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s release, President Ashiwaju should please release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu either conditionally or unconditionally; while he ensures the return of Chief Sunday Igboho that is held in Benin Republic back home to Nigeria in sanity and safety.
3. The President should commence the implementation of resolutions of the 2014 National Conference/ Confab which is already overdue now, as he has promised to restructure Nigeria into True Federalism with Regionalisation.
4. He should reduce the lawmaker’s salaries, allowances and retirement benefits (In fact, their services are better than part-time jobs). He should ensure this by precept and example to be shown through his own salary and emoluments.
5. President Ashiwaju Tinubu in his appointments without any form of lopsidedness should fully as promised remember to embrace the Women and the Youths as this point cannot be over-emphasised.
6. He should especially empower the Christian community who had clamoured against the Muslim/Muslim ticket and had been short-changed in the past eight years by the Buhari-Apc-led administration.
7. He should dare to start to face and ultimately complete every uncompleted project of the past administrations because the government is a continuous process.
Now she has added that, it is very wise for the President to consider NADECO’s suggestion to “Return To Republican Constitution” re affirming that, “A return to the Independence/ Republican Constitution will restore a responsive and responsible government in the minimum as we grapple with the business of reconstructing our country since January 15, 1966.”
Similarly, we would recall that OLUWAREMILEKUN BOLA TINUBU the Nigerian First Lady, and a three times Senator has promised Nigerians, “WE WILL SET THIS NATION ON THE RIGHT PATH…WE WILL DO THE RIGHT THING BY THE GRACE OF GOD.”
Senator Oluremi Tinubu said, she would be one of the oldest First Ladies the country has produced, and as such needs the grace of God to perform, adding that Nigeria’s wealth belongs to all. She, then, called for prayers from Nigerians, that she and her husband would be needing God’s grace to deliver on the expectations of citizens.
The Mother of the Nation, took a glorious bow from the 9th Senate last week as Nigerian women’s voice in the senate over the years. She had made history as the only Nigerian woman who has successfully served in the Nigerian Senate for three (3) consecutive dispensations – The “7th Senate, 8th Senate and the 9th Senate.”
A grassroots mobilizer, an educationist, a politician per excellence, a voice for the weak and vulnerable, and now the first Lady of our great nation. She broke another glass ceiling. She redefined women in politics, leadership, and governance! The History maker!
May God continue to guide and lead her as she settles into her new role, which she has already started handling with so much grace, eloquence and class, as she has requested for our prayers, in Jesus Precious’s name, amen.
In another development, “The former governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has stated that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) government should be grateful for a second chance to redeem themselves of what he described as their past misdeeds against Nigerians.”

PRESS STATEMENT
6th June 2023
His Excellency,
Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR,
President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,
Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.
Your Excellency,
RE: CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR INAUGURATION AS THE PRESIDENT OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA
The NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC COALITION, NADECO hereby formally congratulates you as you took the Oath of Office, sworn in and assumed office as the President of Nigeria. This is without prejudice to the democratic rights of your opponents who are contesting your victory at the election tribunal.
NADECO is gratified that one of its most prominent Leaders who contributed significantly to the titanic democratic struggle and campaign that the organization had to embark upon on behalf of Nigerians to restore democracy to Nigeria has by divine destiny become the elected President of the country of our birth.
We like to remind you of the most important demand of our common and just struggle which was centred on the imperative necessity to return Nigeria to a Federal Constitutional Governance upon which we secured our independence.
Nigeria remains a country not a nation to date because the military had without Nigerian democratic approval truncated, illegally suspended, abrogated and replaced our negotiated independent constitution and replaced it with Unitary Constitution to date.
The deceptively choreographed, 1979 & 1999 Constitutions which preserved all the grave damages which successive military governments have forcefully imposed upon Nigeria remain the bane of Nigeria’s backwardness, stunted growth and unacceptable level of poverty.
NADECO is more than convinced that a return to the Independence/ Republican Constitution will restore responsive and responsible government at the minimum as we grapple with the business of reconstructing our country which was successively overrun/ damaged by the narrow personal interests of politicians in the military uniform since January 15, 1966. All the many aberrations-political, legal, and structural which the different military dictators whimsically imposed on Nigeria can then be strategically corrected over time.
Mr. President, you were part of the Patriots who suffered deprivations, dehumanization, and hounding along with us as we spoke truth to the powers that forced themselves on us.
Fortunately, your own party established the Governor El-Rufai Committee which recommended that the APC government should immediately fulfil its promise to return Nigeria to a Federal Constitutional Governance as contained in your Manifesto. All that we are requesting you to do is to use your good auspices and commit yourself to be faithful to the promise upon which your party was elected into office.
NADECO on behalf of the silent majority of Nigerians expects you to make Nigeria respond to her manifest destiny of providing leadership to the black race which is looking up towards us to take our rightful place in the global diplomatic leadership to prove that black civilization is consequential and important as the others for the growth and advancement of humanity.
We pray that the good Lord will grant you robust health, empathy and divine wisdom to provide unprecedented productive and impactive leadership which will in quick time enhance the standard and quality of lives of our people who have endured unbelievable economic deprivation, neglect and poverty in a country like Nigeria with the abundant human and material endowment and resources.
Accept the assurances of our highest regards
Yours Sincerely,
AYO OPADOKUN
General Secretary and Spokesman.
