On January 15, the world surpassed 2M deaths from COVID-19. The unfortunate milestone comes a little more than one year after the first case was detected in Wuhan, China. The world hit 1M COVID-19 deaths in 8 months, but it took less than 4 months to pass another million deaths. UN Secretary-General António Guterres says the pandemic has been worsened by the lack of global coordination, saying in a video message, ‘Our world can only get ahead of this virus one way – together. Global solidarity will save lives, protect people, and help defeat this vicious virus.’
