NSCDC Rescues Middle-Aged Woman who Jumped into Osun River
Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has rescued a middle-aged woman who jumped into Gbodofon, Osun River, in the state.
The civil defenders who responded to the distress calls of the members of the public who alerted them of the happening swung into action and rescued the victims before being sunk into the. mire of the river.
Speaking shortly after being resuscitated to life at a nearby hospital where she was being rushed to by the officers of the command for medical treatment, the victim said, “I came all the way from Iragbiji to Osogbo for me to jump into the Gbodofon River because I was feeling fire burning in my body, and the only way to quench the fire was to jump into the Osun River.”
Commenting on the sad development, the state commandant of the NSCDC, Agboola Sunday, confirmed the incident.
He, however, assured residents of the state of their safety because the command would always ensure that their lives and property were well protected.
Agboola, who thereafter charged them to take care of their mental health, pledged that his men would pay close attention to all the rivers in the state to avoid future occurrences.
