Savage new movie directed by Meji Alabi and produced by Everything Savage and Unbound Studios, “Water and Garri” explores the journey of Aisha (played by Tiwa Savage), an ambitious fashion designer returning to her homeland after a decade abroad. As Aisha navigates familial complexities and confronts past demons, viewers are in for a gripping tale of resilience and self-discovery.
The film which was shot in Cape Coast, Ghana, boasts stunning cinematography and a stellar cast including Mike Afolarin, Andrew Bunting, and Jemima Osunde. Executive director Jimi Adesanya emphasized the film’s commitment to excellence and its portrayal of West African unity, with Tiwa Savage’s significant financial investment underscoring her dedication to the project.
He said, “We were not thinking about cutting corners. We believed that anything worth doing is worth doing well. Tiwa bought a house in London before the film. She put some of her mortgages into funding the film project.”
“Water and Garri” is a powerful movie “in which we can tell our African story. It is about lice, it is about betrayal, it is about excitement and I think you need to watch the film to be able to see all the interesting things it entails.”
Executive producer, Vanessa Ogbonna also highlighted the empowering portrayal of women in the film, while director Meji Alabi emphasized its relatable storytelling and global resonance.
