WORLD CIVIL DEFENCE DAY 2021: NSCDC LAGOS STATE COMMAND CELEBRATES MODERATELY.
COMMANDANT AYENI PK HARPS ON CIVIL PROTECTION TO PRESERVE NATIONAL ECONOMY.

“The World Civil Defence Day , which usually comes up March 1st of every year, was constituted into the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), in 1972. The ICDO was established as an intergovernmental organization, in the year 1931 by a French Surgeon – General known as Georges Saint Paul. He established it as result of his desire to create safety zones, for the civil populace.”
Adding that, “The organization is now 90years old today. The World Civil Defence Day is usually celebrated by the ICDO , United Nations and other member – states of the global body. The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Lagos State Command, also joins the rest of the world to celebrate this year’s World Civil Defence Day, in a moderate fashion in line with Covid – 19 protocols.
The Commandant, CC Ayeni PK harps on the theme of the year with the view to averting national crises.”
The theme of this year’s celebration is : ” Strong Civil Protection To preserve national economy.” The Commandant NSCDC LAGOS STATE COMMAND, Commandant Ayeni PK says the theme for this year’s celebration 2021, is apt and will provide stronger and better solutions to all the insecurity challenges in the country at large.
“In line with the new Commandant General’s, charge, in his inaugural address, CG Ahmed Abubakar Audi PhD, mni, on ensuring the full implementation of the corps’ mandate, in times of numerous security challenges, like this, especially, in the areas, of protection of lives and property, maintenance of law and order as well as the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure owned by federal, state and local governments, the Commandant avows the readiness and willingness of the Command, to continue to intelligently, gallantly and tactically give their best, in order to ensure a safe and secured Lagos State and Nigeria.”
The Lagos state NSCDC boss, however, used the occasion to congratulate the Commandant – General, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi, on his appointment and resumption of office.
“The Commandant, Commandant PK Ayeni MSC MBA ANIM ACIA, also uses the year 2021 World Civil Defence Day, to officially, congratulate the Commandant – General, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi, Phd, mni, on his appointment , decoration and assumption into office as the new Commandant – General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps. He believes that his leadership will usher in a fresh, dynamic and dramatic turnaround into the service at large” .
The Commandant, therefore, charges his men to be more disciplined, dedicated and exhibit professionalism While discharging their duties.
“The Commandant also charges the officers and men of the Lagos State Command, on discipline, professionalism, punctuality and dedication to duty. It is with these and many other professional qualities that we can keep on flying the flag of the corps higher.”
The World Civil Defence Day was beign celebrated with moderation, in the Command this year as a result of the impeding challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic in the state. All Covid-19 guidelines and protocols was duely and strictly followed, in full compliance to the regulations of the ministry of health and the Lagos State Government.
The day was kick started with some indoor games and later followed with two lectures by Chief Superintendent of Corps( CSC ) Fabian Adoga Head of Unit Power in the department of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, on the theme : ‘Strong Civil Protection To Preserve National Economy’ and Assistant Superintendent of Corps I( ASCI) Abolurin Oluwaseun O, NSCDC LAGOS STATE COMMAND PRO, on the ‘History of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO)and the World Civil Defence Day’, to mark the global event. There was also special features from few selected units such as the Quarter guard and Sports units, from the Training Department, to commemorate the World Civil Defence Day.
Meanwhile, Commandant Ayeni PK, wishes all officers and men of the corps and especially, personnel of the Lagos State Command a blissful and happy World Civil Defence Day celebration, for the year 2021.
