YULETIDE: FRSC LAGOS DEPLOYS PERSONNEL, AMBULANCES, PATROL VEHICLES, POWER BIKES
As part of its responsibilities to creating a safer motoring environment, the Federal Road Safety Corps Lagos Sector Command has deployed 3700 personnel comprising (Regular and Special Marshals), 42 Patrol Vehicles, 3 Tow Trucks, 11 Power bikes and 3 Ambulances across the state as part of its efforts to achieve zero Road Traffic Crashes and fatalities during the Christmas and New Year Celebrations, National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP can report.
As a yearly practice, the FRSC is specially dedicated to ensuring free-flow of traffic and prompt response to Road Traffic Crashes. This yearly operation is tagged “Operation Zero Tolerance,” which is the peak of its annual Ember Months Safety Campaign Nationwide. This year’s Ember Months Safety Campaign’s theme is “Speed Thrills but Kills, Drive Responsibly and Avoid Overloading.
” The campaign is accompanied by aggressive public enlightenment, traffic control, rescue operation, and enforcement.
FRSC LAGOS is not an exception to this FRSC National Practice. Against this backdrop, the Sector Commander FRSC Lagos Corps Commander Babatunde Farinloye informed News men that all hands will be on deck during this period in order to achieve a successful operation and reduce Road Traffic Crashes during the yuletide in Lagos State. He also said that FRSC will be on a 24-hour duty in order to ensure prompt responses to emergencies.
The Command is also partnering with other agencies like Nigeria Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) to ensure seamless and crash free celebrations.
He admonished the motoring public to make use of FRSC toll-free number 122 in case of emergencies during the course of their journeys. He also stressed that road users should cooperate with staff of FRSC and other sister agencies on the highway and ensure that they engage in safe practices before, during, and after their journeys.
Corps Commander Babatunde Farinloye added that motorists should avoid overloading, speeding, use of phones while driving, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs to mention, but a few.
